3 out of 5 stars Average headphones with a few perks   May 5, 2009

Curious to find the "best" earbuds under $25, I considered these along with the $10 Jbuds, the $25 V-Moda, and the $21 CX-300s.

These Coby headphones have a slight muffled tone to them. The sound quality is better than the issued iPod headphones (but that really isn't saying much). The quality is 2 out of 5 stars.

Also, there are two problems with the cord. First, it is WAYYY shorter than most earbud cord lengths (40 inches). Second, the right earbud length is also WAYYY longer than the left earbud length (asymmetrical lengths).

The reasons why I put it at three stars though are:
1) Came with a solid case
2) Noise cancelling is above average
3) Quite comfortable actually

Go for the $10 Jbuds. Break them in for 24 hours, and you will be pleased with those.

5 out of 5 stars good buds   January 8, 2009

These inexpensive buds do the job. They stay in your ear and the length of the wire is also long enough. I do cardio, weight training, etc., and they have yet to come out once. They come with a second set of the soft plugs also. The sound is great, both with treble and bass.

4 out of 5 stars Fine sound but cold against the ear!   December 16, 2008

I have used Coby earbuds before and have always loved them. These fit beautifully into my ears and provide wonderful sound isolation. I particularly recommend them for people with small ears. They are also very stylish and coordinate nicley with the purple Apple iPod nano 16 GB Purple (4th Generation)! My only issue with them is that the metal becomes extremely cold, which can be a bit off-putting during the winter.

3 out of 5 stars Good sound, good deal.   November 9, 2008

I purchased these headphones because they are the in-ear style and they are purple. The sound is much better than my old headphones (Ipod standard). I can hear details of the music and I don't have to have the volume maxed out. The cord is not normal rubber, it's rubber with string/thread wrapped around it. I'm not sure what the benefit is, but I can tell you the drawback is that they won't lie flat - instead they tend to hold whatever bent shape they were wrapped up in and the rubber sort of pops out of the thread weave.
These are the first headphones I have owned with asymmetrical cords. One earbud is on a longer cord than the other, which is supposed to help keep them off to the side and out of the way. Unfortunately I have found that, because the cord hangs off to the side rather than down the middle of my chest, I am often accidentally pulling one earbud out of my ear just by the movement of my arm against my body. I will note that this issue might be limited to women or to men who have large pectoral muscles.
I was alarmed when I got the package and saw a lead warning on it. It says "handling this product will expose you to lead." Not MIGHT expose you...WILL expose you. Seems like something you should know BEFORE you buy a product. But I looked into it on the internet and it seems that this is a standard warning on any prodcut that has even the tiniest lead in in (inside, for the electronic bits) and the wording was hopefully just a translation issue.

4 out of 5 stars Nice High Quality Earphones   August 21, 2008
Ghost Black (New York)
I did not buy these from Amazon but I did spot these in a corner store near me. I love the in ear type phones and the style is also. The sound quality is good because I'm hearing things I never herd before in the songs I listen to.It does a great job of blocking out noise on the train and They are comfortable to wear to bed.
